Buying film cameras from Japan
Japan has the deepest supply of used film cameras. Buy from established eBay exporters for simplicity, or use a proxy service to reach Japanese auction sites.
Two routes
Japanese exporters on eBay list in English, ship worldwide, and fall under eBay's buyer protection. This is the easiest route.
Proxy services such as Buyee bid on Yahoo Auctions Japan for you and forward the item. Prices can be lower, but you pay service fees and shipping, and returns are rare.
What to check
Japanese listings often use their own grading words. Treat the photos and the seller's notes on the shutter, the meter, and the glass as the real description.
Plan for import duties and taxes where you live, and for shipping time.
